The difference between the PLW3™ FORMLOK™ profile and W3 FORMLOK™ profile is the method of sidelap attachment; the panels themselves are identical in both geometry and material properties. The prefix "PL" designates a PunchLok® version of the W3 profile, while W3 alone indicates the top seam weld or button punch version of the same W3 profile.

Type W3 FORMLOK™ profiles are 3-inch deep composite deck designed for longer span floor deck conditions. The standard profile contains 3 ribs and is 36 inches wide with opposing male and female edges, creating an interlocking side lap when installed. The mechanical embossments on the surface of the deck are proprietary to Verco Decking, Inc. and were strategically designed to increase the shear bond strength between the concrete and steel. W3 FORMLOK™ deck can be used as a composite deck or simply as a form deck.

All FORMLOK™ products are considered composite assemblies (steel deck and concrete act compositely). If the FORMLOK™ designation is not present, the product is a form deck, not a composite deck.
